De Keurslager - History

De Keurslager Steenbakkerijstraat #43 - 45DE KEURSLAGER was registered at the Surinamese Chamber of Commerce, under the umbrella of INTERFARM Holding. The articles of association were accepted in 1982.

The first artisanal butcher was situated at the Verlengde Gemenelandsweg in the premises where Midimo is currently located. In a relatively short time span, DE KEURSLAGER gained vast popularity, which made it imperative to open another butchery shop in the centre of Paramaribo.

This second shop was established at the Steenbakkerijstraat no 48, at the current location of Wing Wah jewelry.

In 1991, the Wolterstorff family decided to move the business to their private owned premises at the Steenbakkerijstraat no 43 -45, and tranform the artisanal butchery into a modern type.

After adequately equipping the meat processing area, the shop and the large kitchen, the company expanded their operations with the production of several sausage types, meat products and (social) catering services.

In 2009 and 2010, DE KEURSLAGER further increased professionalism with respect to operations, products and services. This was done by establishing a modern meat processing plant and wholesale facility at the Dr.Nassylaan 117, and by obtaining a HACCP food-safety certificate nine months later.
